We’ve had another great year at This Changed My Practice, and once again, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank our editors (Drs. Bruce Hobson, Christine Newton, Daniel Ngui, Shirley Sze) and our amazing Educational Program Coordinator and Webmaster, Ms. Nina Zoric. I also appreciate the great support of Associate Dean CPD Dr. Brenna Lynn, and Dr. Bob Bluman who proposed the concept of TCMP in the first place, as well as all of our readers and authors.

This year, we were honored to receive the CFPC Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program Award. While at the National CPD Accreditation Conference, we learned about the other recipient of this award, and I think it would be of particular interest to TCMP readers. The Alberta College of Family Practice Evidence and CPD program is a physician led, evidence-based educational program aimed at the needs of family physicians (link: https://www.acfp.ca/about-us/evidence-cpd-program/). Congratulations to the team at the Alberta College of Family Practice!

This year’s articles once again ranged widely. Listed below were the Top 5 articles by votes indicating impact on practice. In particular, I found it interesting how our readers responded to the article on Compassion Fatigue: in addition to the comments on the website, we received several emails directly with personal thanks and shared stories. In the coming year, we’ll try and offer more articles addressing the personal needs of physicians: this seems like a relative void in the area of CPD. The TCMP platform, with the ability for readers to comment and share experiences and insights, seems to be a unique avenue to explore this further. If you have suggestions (or even better, author an article!) please email us at: feedback@thischangedmypractice.com

2014’s Top 5 Articles by number votes:
1. Midshaft Clavicle Fractures
2. Using domperidone to enhance lactation
3. Compassion Fatigue: What you don’t know will hurt you
4. Managing opioid withdrawal
5. Lateral Epicondyle Tendinopathy (Tennis Elbow) Toolkit

On behalf of all of us at TCMP, I’d like to wish you a healthy and happy holiday season.
