The This Changed My Practice blog is designed for readers, with a focus on creating a collaborative learning environment and opportunities for discussion among colleagues.
How content is created
- Authors submit topic ideas for consideration by the editorial board.
- Suggestions are carefully considered by the editorial board, and the program assigns priority to certain topics.
- Selected authors are invited to submit articles, or are approached by TCMP to address identified gaps.
- Articles are reviewed for accuracy, clarity and relevance.
- The editorial board, comprised of four physicians from across BC, reviews each article and suggests revisions. This process is repeated until the article is approved.
- Subject matter experts may be consulted to review content where additional expertise is needed.
- Approved articles undergo final copy‑editing before publication.
After publication
- Articles are published online and shared with subscribers by email.
- Readers can add commentary; respectful discussion and diverse viewpoints are encouraged. Comments are moderated in accordance with our discussion guidelines. View the discussion guidelines.
- Comments will be accepted for 90 days after publication of an article.
- Articles remain available in our online archive. Readers are encouraged to review each article’s publication date and assess whether the information remains current and applicable, as knowledge, evidence and practice may change over time.
Review after publication
We aim to include correct and reliable information. However, if concerns are raised about an article after publication, the following review process is undertaken:
- The Editor will assess the concerns raised and determine whether further review is required.
- The editorial board will be consulted to provide additional perspectives on the identified issues.
- Subject matter experts may be consulted where additional expertise is needed.
- The authors will be notified of the concerns and invited to address specific issues identified.
- Findings from the review, including expert input and author responses, will be evaluated by the editorial board and UBC CPD leadership.
- A final decision will be made regarding appropriate action, which may include:
- Revising the article
- Issuing a clarification or correction
- Withdrawing the article
- Taking other appropriate measures as needed
- Determining that no further action is required
Our approach
TCMP is focused on creating an environment that is conducive to learning. While there is rigour in our editorial process and we aim to include factual, evidence-based information, articles are not academic journal publications and may reflect authors’ opinions, perspectives, or lived experiences.
Articles may address complex or controversial topics. As a blog, articles are designed to stimulate thoughtful discussion through comments. Comments should reflect professional discourse within the context of practice change and are moderated based on our discussion guidelines. Read more about our discussion guidelines.
