CPSBC Library closure

We were saddened to hear of the closure of the BC College Library on March 15 (https://www.cpsbc.ca/news/library-permanently-closing-march-15-2024). This seems to be reflective of the new reality where people have alternate ways of finding medical information.

The College Library has been an important partner for TCMP since our beginning and we sincerely appreciate everything they have done for our readership.

This is an end of an era; I think it is important to recognize the value of the expertise that a librarian can bring to answering clinical queries, helping clinicians refine questions into an answerable format and seeking related resources. The care and the very evident willingness to help readers get to the information will be sorely missed. In a way, I do see a kinship with the TCMP mission: although information may be readily findable, having a guide to that information makes the information much more useful.

On behalf of the entire TCMP and UBC CPD, I would like to thank the College librarians for their support, dedication, and professionalism. We sincerely wish them all the best through this transition.
